Behind The Scenes With Our Director - Marilyne AKA (Maz)

So we sat down with our Director / Founder of Splendour Marilyne Estephan to ask her some questions about her inspiration😍

What inspired you to start the Splendour empire?

Maz: From when I can remember as a young girl I have always loved creating beautiful spaces and changing things around at home. One of the things that always caught my eye when shopping for items whether it was for clothes or for the home was to find unique products. I have to say I was and probably am still one of the biggest op shoppers. I was almost certain that I would find something so different. The idea of having something different and unique has always tickled my fancy. Working alongside my husband Jack as an Interior Designer for Energy Efficient Homes, I thought it would be a nice idea to have a showroom that showcased and sold unique and bespoke products that was accessible for everybody. We decided to open our design firm in Camden some many years ago now which allowed us to incorporate a retail showroom to cater for these unique and bespoke products for our clients and customers to have access to. And that is when Splendour empire was born.

What is your favourite part of the job?

Maz: Not only do I love selecting beautiful fabrics, gorgeous wallpaper and creating a unique design concept, the most rewarding and favourite part of the job is seeing the joy in our clients eyes after completing a project.

How would you describe your design style?

Maz: I have to say, I do love many design styles, but in particular one style that would stand out for me that little bit more would have to be “Art Deco”. Mixing patterns, textures and colours together and creating a style that stays sympathetic to the architecture of the home. Working with the surrounding environment would also have to be one of the biggest factors for me in creating a design concept for our clients.

What advice do you give to people who are looking to make-over their home?

Maz: Take your time and think about what it is that you wish to achieve. Stay true to your style and what you love because at the end of the day this is your home and you should be surrounded by all the things you love. When working with your designer make sure that you are comfortable in being able to speak freely about what it is that you want to achieve. Keep an open mind when working with your designer, as they may and more than likely will come up with ideas that you may have never even considered.
